Built by mine developer Anson Phelps Stokes, this three-story stone tower is located near Austin, Nevada. Stokes built the castle to use as a summer home and it sits on the hillside on the western edge of town, overlooking the beautiful Reese River Valley. Just a couple of months after moving in, Stokes and his family left abruptly, leaving the castle abandoned. The tower was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. It seems the haunted rumors surrounding this castle are due to its remote location and overall creepiness.
