Dating back to 1860, The Mackay Mansion once served as the residence of John Mackay, one of the "Silver Kings of Virginia City." The mansion now operates as a museum that offers tours and private events. Witnesses have reported seeing apparitions of a colonel in the kitchen of the mansion and a young girl wearing a white dress and spotted in several of the rooms. Sometimes the girl has been heard playing upstairs when nobody is up there.
